Rangers and Bobcats Win
Wednesday, December 31, 2008
I was away for the last few days doing the Quinnipiac Bobcats games on the radio. So, I did not get to see the Rangers 5-4 victory over the Islanders. As a result, I basically need all of the info on the game: The good, the bad, and the ugly. Your input would be greatly appreciated!
As for the Bobcats, they were off to Storrs, Connecticut to play in the Toyota UConn Hockey Classic. The Bobcats, after a long holiday layoff, won the tournament by beating a gritty Merrimack College in come from behind fashion with a 4-3 win in OT. In the championship game, the Bobcats took on the 11th ranked Air Force squad and really took it to them from the start and won by a score of 4-2. Associate head coach Ben Syer took over behind bench for head coach Rand Pecknold who was away for some personal reasons. Congrats goes out to the players and coaches. Great wins! Hopefully it will provide a carry-over effect down the stretch run in the ECAC.
Happy New Year everyone! Over and out!

Update: I will be away Friday and Saturday doing some more Quinnipiac Bobcats games on the radio. I will answer any comments when I get back!

It was nice to see us score some goals. Dawes has been playing great as of the last few weeks, it's good to see that - especially since he's one of my favorite players.
Granted, it was against the Islanders, but I was overall pleased with the performance. Outside of the Kalinin corner giveaway for an Isles goal, of course.
The Islanders actually have some ridiculous record of 7-2-1 (not exact) or something in their last 10 games at MSG. Which, I wasn't surprised about since we always seem to struggle with them. Guess it's the rivalry.
Hank didn't play his best game either, regardless of the poor play in front. Oh well, we got a W and scored 5 goals. I was happy for a night.
wrath of sanity: Wrath, A win is a win. I do have to agree Dawes has played inspired Hockey lately.
Islanders, will always be tough for the Rangers no matter how lousy their record is.
As for Kalinin.....what else is there to say?
I wouldn't worry about The King, his team mates owe him at least oh about a dozen or so games.
Happy New year Chris...may we have an awesome happy and healthy year for all of our loved ones and ourselves...Lets Goooo Rangers...
leatherneck: leatherneck, Happy New Year to you and yours as well. Looking forward to 2009, 2008 was not the best for me.
Rangers Rule!
Beat by another short-handed goal, just wonderful.
hummmm 14 powerplay goals scored...13 shorties given up...hummm...wake up Pearn...there should be no reason why after the 10th one...anymore shorties should have been scored..now we are in the insanity stage Chris..Gachev looks good...and man...can Canada be any luckier in the WJC's...fate is on their side for another Gold
wrath of sanity: Wrath , unfortunately I did not see the game as I was away (Quinnipiac Radio).
Better off that I didn't as the Rangers engaged in a another low scoring affair and giving up a shorthanded again. What else is new?
leatherneck: Leatherneck, How about laying the blame on the players for the power play?
They obviously got to the NHL having some sort of clue, and now all of a sudden they go brain dead?
Shorthanded goals against at an alarming rate? Sorry this ones on the players.
Sometimes it's better to lucky than good (Canadian Juniors), maybe the Rangers will find some in the future. Is my Canadian Pride Showing?
